New Printemps Asiatique Paris

Detail: From the 7th to the 17th of June, the galleries specialized in Asian Art, the major auction houses as well as the Guimet and Cernuschi Museums are launching the first edition of « Printemps Asiatique Paris ».

Based on the model of Asia Week New York and Asian Art in London, this new event will be articulated around a common calendar of exhibitions and auctions. This annual week will allow collectors and amateurs to discover some of the most exciting pieces available on the market. The ambition of the Printemps Asiatique Paris is to assert the importance of the Asian art market in France, especially in the capital.

New Indian, Himalayan and South-East Asian Art Exhibition

Detail: Always in search of works of great interest, the Galerie Christophe Hioco specializes in Indian and Himalayan art, and also offers rare South-East Asian bronzes. With a selection of more than 40 pieces, this exhibition includes Gandharan artworks - as this noble and majestic seated bodhisattva, powerful Tibetan bronzes and thangkas – as this impressive Hayagriva, as well as elegant and rare Buddhist pieces from Thailand or Sri Lanka.  
We will exhibit together with the Compagnie de la Chine et des Indes in their beautiful gallery. This event is thus our second collaboration after having celebrated together the 80th anniversary of the Compagnie.

New Celebrating 60 years of exceptional Chinese art

Detail: To celebrate the first anniversary of her gallery, Anne Duchange is proud to present some of the finest pieces from her family’s collection, which was started by her father in the late 1950s and has been blossoming ever since. Such a masterpiece is the pair of 18th century embellished gilt-bronze bottle vases offered to the legendary opera singer, Maria Callas by Aristote Onassis. The Duchange gallery is exhibiting Chinese porcelains and works of art ranging from the Ming (1368-1644) to the Qing (1644-1911) dynasty.

We hope this exhibition will contribute to the ever-growing interest in Chinese Art.

In the vast domain of Chinese archaeology, Christian Deydier specializes in ancient bronzes and works in gold. Bronze ritual vessels, mainly from the Shang Dynasty (circa 17th/16 th - 12t th /11 th centuries B.C.) can be found alongside gold and silver-gilt plate from the Tang (618-907) and Liao (10th century) Dynasties, terracotta pieces and exceptional sculptures from the Han, northern and Tang Dynasties.

New From aesthetic to divine, works of art and Buddhist figures

Among the sacred figures, a rare pair of Tang period gilt-bronze Bodhisattva and a stunning gilt-bronze Lokapala’s head from the Densatil Monastery in Tibet. This head is of the scarce testimonies of the pieces specially produced for the Densatil temple considered to be one of the most sumptuous in Tibet and which entirely disappeared during the Chinese Cultural Revolution.

Made of materials such as stone, bronze and wood, scholar’s objects unveil an aesthetic and a technical mastery which often announce important provenances and even sometimes imperial use.

Detail: For this first edition of the Printemps Asiatique in Paris, Mingei Gallery will show a selection of Japanese lacquers, and among them a rare and unusual lacquer Kodansu-suzuribako,  a small chest of drawers with seasonal flowers and auspicious motif from the Edo period, 18th Century; several figures of Buddhism art, from Nara to Muromachi Periods; and a selection of bamboo baskets for ikebana, classical and contemporary.
