Subject:Ch'ing dynasty tea cup
Posted By: Mathieu Sat, Jun 02, 2018 IP: 160.163.4.25

I want to know if this cup with chinese writings (大清順 洽年创) is authentic and its value, i translated it but not sure about the meaning, it seems to be from the Ch'ing dynasty ware, more precisely from Shun-chih emperor 1644-1661 era, and thank for your help.

Hardly likely to be real with a printed mark - and on the side.

Whimsey - but not a fake (unless the seller told you it was genuine)

Your cup seems to be a modern product, with a reign mark that looks to be applied incongruously to the side by transfer, judging by traces of blue pigment flow in the glaze. The protective bronze ring around the mouth raises the question of whether the cup might have been made in Thailand, which has a well-established ceramics industry and a history of favoring such bronze cladding on its ceramic tableware.

Best regards,

Bill H.

The correct transcription is more like this: 大清順治年制

Examples of Shunzhi blue and white porcelain can be seen here: http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_896787f40102x3sj.html

Yours is likely a modern imitation

Please post more pictures and measurments, i think it's not from Shun-Chih, it's from Shunzhi. The porcelain seems to be cracked and the golden band is a true gold, so i think it's authentic but as i told you post more pictures so it would be more easy to analyse
